Top Psychiatry Stories of 2006
The Journal Watch Psychiatry editors offer their perspective on the years most important stories in psychiatry.
I am pleased to announce this new feature for Journal Watch Psychiatry. The editorial board has determined the Top Stories of 2006 after carefully reviewing all of the past year's summaries. In making our choices, we have tried to strike a balance between relevance to the clinician, recognition of landmark studies, and media publicity and public awareness. Each of our top stories draws upon several related summaries. The stories are arranged in no particular order, and their sequence is not intended to reflect their relative importance. All citations are from 2006, unless otherwise noted.
Our Top Stories for 2006 are:
- Wondering About the Wonder Drugs: A Second Look at the Atypical Antipsychotics
- Behavioral Treatment for Chronic Insomnia Works
- Antidepressants in Pregnancy: The Ongoing Story
- Does STAR*D Make the All-Stars?
- Depression and Antidepressants in Children: Scylla and Charybdis?
